I completed my education and training in Cape Town, South Africa, earning both my undergraduate and honours degrees in psychology from the University of Cape Town. After completing my honours degree, I obtained an Advanced Certificate in Counselling and Communication Skills from the South African College of Applied Psychology (SACAP). Shortly thereafter, I completed my BPsych Equivalent degree through SACAP, qualifying as a counsellor.
My work and training have exposed me to working in a variety of contexts with diverse population groups. I worked as an assistant forensic psychologist in private practice for a clinical psychologist who specialises in psycho-legal work involving custody assessments in the nature of care and contact. At the same time, I worked as a court-appointed supervisor and supervised parent-child contact sessions. I have volunteered and completed counselling training at various sites including a high school, a step-down, rehabilitation, and retirement centre specialising in palliative care, and a community counselling centre offering affordable mental health services across South Africa. I now work exclusively in private practice.
I am a member of both the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA). My work is supervised by a registered practitioner and I adhere to the professional codes and guidelines of each regulatory body. As part of my commitment to these regulatory bodies and out of my own interest, I regularly attend and engage in continuous professional development activities such as workshops, training, conferences, and reading to upskill and improve my practice.
